Girls Set Go is a STEM-focused nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls of color from underserved communities to thrive, lead, and innovate through education, mentorship, and real-world experiences. We exist because talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not.
In a world where science, technology, engineering, and mathematics drive economic growth and social progress, girls of color continue to be underrepresented across many STEM fields. Despite their curiosity, brilliance, and potential, systemic barriers—including limited access to quality STEM education, underrepresentation, and a lack of mentorship—continue to narrow pathways into these careers. Girls Set Go is intentionally changing that narrative by investing in access, exposure, and opportunity early.
We focus on high school girls (ages 14–18), a pivotal stage when young people begin making important decisions about their academic journeys and future careers. Through our immersive 4-week STEM Bootcamp and extended mentorship experiences, we equip participants with in-demand technical skills, exposure to diverse STEM and entrepreneurship pathways, and access to mentors and professional networks that are often beyond reach.
Our approach extends beyond technical learning. Girls Set Go cultivates confidence, leadership, belonging, and aspiration. We work to close the digital divide, address career-readiness gaps, and create supportive environments where girls of color are encouraged to dream boldly, explore fearlessly, and lead with purpose.

Rationale
Girls of color continue to face significant barriers to entry and advancement in STEM fields, despite representing a growing share of the nation’s youth population. Limited access to high-quality STEM education, underrepresentation in technical careers, and a lack of mentorship and professional networks continue to hinder participation and long-term success for many Black, Hispanic, Asian, African, and other girls of color.
STEM careers remain among the fastest-growing and highest-paying sectors of the economy, and research shows that early exposure to STEM significantly increases interest, persistence, and career attainment. By focusing on high school girls (ages 14–18), Girls Set Go reaches students at a pivotal stage when they begin making important decisions about their education and future careers.
Girls Set Go delivers a transformative 4-8 week STEM Bootcamp followed by an extended mentorship experience designed to equip girls of color from underserved communities with the skills, confidence, and support systems they need to thrive in today’s innovation economy.
Our programs go beyond technical instruction. Participants gain in-demand skills, explore pathways into technology, entrepreneurship, and emerging industries, and build the professional networks that are often inaccessible due to systemic inequities.
We intentionally work to close the digital divide and address the career-readiness gaps that disproportionately affect girls of color, particularly when access to quality training, mentorship, and industry exposure is limited.
